IMG_0537001 (1).jpgShe spent her career making others’ dreams come true, now Sharron Pearson of Syracuse is working hard on her dream. Her dream is a unique business which serves other small businesses and individuals looking for an affordable venue to plan events, called The Guest House.

“The Guest House is my happy place, I just love it,” said Pearson. The Guest House, located at 722 W. Manlius Street in East Syracuse, is an affordable, comfortable and worry-free place for businesses and individuals to host events such as parties, vendor shows, training workshops, or seminars. The Guest House has plenty of off-street parking, is fully accessible with a ramp entrance and two huge, accessible bathrooms.

A single mom raising two children, Pearson excelled in the Public Relations Marketing field, first at the Syracuse Community Health Center, and now as an information specialist planning events at The New York State Fair. Now that her children have grown into successful adults, her daughter is a local nurse practitioner and her son is an attorney in Boston, Pearson started to focus on what would make her happy.

“People would ask me for years how to plan events and where to have them,” explained Pearson. “There was always a reason why one place or the other wouldn’t work, so I decided to create a place which would work for a variety of events.”

Pearson credits her daughter with spotting the place which would provide the perfect spot for her dream to grow. Pearson then got to work, renovating and decorating the facility from top to bottom, creating a number of room environments which would match the needs of small events.

“The Guest House was the perfect place for my small business to host an informational party night for people to learn about the options available when cruising to Alaska,” explained Donald Merritt of Starfire Travel. “It was just the right size, the right price, comfortable, and easy for my clients to find and park. I even forgot to grab a box of crackers for the cheese I had brought and Sharron handed me a sleeve of crackers in an instant!”

“I love it when the events go well and my clients meet their goals,” said Pearson. She says The Guest House has hosted a variety of events including bridal and baby showers, small wedding ceremonies and receptions, business meetings and celebrations, fund-raisers, holiday parties including one family who books The Guest House every year for Christmas morning.

In addition to a comfortable living room with plenty of seating, tables for food or product displays, and a working kitchen nearby, Pearson also rents out two business offices and a conference room for trainings and seminars.

“All I can say is that having my event at The Guest House was super easy,” said Merritt. “The place is super clean, Sharron was ready to help with everything, and we just had to pack up our literature and she did the rest. It was such a wonderful experience. We’ll be back.”
